Eurythmy

Northwest Choreographers Concerts are open to all choreographers as a venue to perform their works, old and new. The one DCO requirement is that all participating choreographers' DCO memberships be up to date. Get a printable MEMBERSHIP FORM here.

In recent years, submissions have grown in number and quality, to the point that a juried selection process is now in place. Professionals from the dance community review the submission materials and outline attractively varied programs. This year, three concerts were entirely of juried submissions with one open community (come-one-come-all) concert. Performances were limited to 12 minutes duration.

The submission process is simple. Get a printable NW Choreographers Submission Form here or on the cover of Dance Happenings. Send the completed form and a short video sample, plus whatever support materials best describe your work and achievements. For the Spring 2007 concert, submission Dead Line is March 1, 2007. The 1st Fall installment of NW Choreographers Concerts is in the planning stage. No submission dead line has yet been set. Please watch for announcement of the planning meeting, and please attend.

There are no stylistic or aesthetic limitations as to the dance included in the concert series. And, though much of what graces the stage at NW Choreographers Concerts is genuinely exotic in its cosmopolitan cultural scope, as for so-called Exotic dancing in the more commonly commercial sense, we trust the natural control mechanisms of market discipline to effectively insulate us, as they have seemingly done thus far, from any potentially embarrassing censorship dilemma associated with the genre and its affiliate enterprises.
