The featured artists are Yumiko Yoshioka, a female Japanese pioneer of Butoh who has lived and worked in Berlin since 1988; Mexican Butoh master Diego Pinon; and local Portland artists Mizu Desierto and Alenka Bravo

LAUNCH participants must demonstrate advanced ballet technique, be versatile and movement oriented, open to artistic direction and suggestion, and be explorative and highly professional. Acceptance is limited in order to emphasize individualized instruction, professional mentoring and close collaboration. LAUNCH requires that dancers have the stamina and commitment to dance intensively up to ten hours per day.

LAUNCH serves as the audition process for our Project Company.

Portland Festival Ballet announces a summer intensive with renowned teacher John Magnus for ballet dancers 10 to 21 years old. See our website for biography of John Magnus.

Mr. Magnus is a hands-on instructor who can assist the dancer in perfecting technique through body awareness. His instruction is gentle while being precise and demanding.

Open program 3-5 weeks (M-F 9:30-5/Sat. 9:30-2) with performance for those attending all 5 weeks.

Placement audition on Feb 27th, 2-4pm at Portland Festival Ballet. Enrollment is limited. Fee for auditioning is $20.

Choreographer, Instructor Brad Hampton is teaching an open Adv. adult jazz class. The class will be on Thursdays 8:30-9:30pm at Westside Dance Academy.

The cost is $10.00 for the hour.

This class will be fun and fast paced. If you are looking for an advanced level adult jazz class this is for you.

Brad Hampton is from the Portland area. He has performed on Broadway and numerous industrials and commercials.
